Description
The templates that ship with Solid (MDF standard and MDF alternate, in particular) do not precisely match the official documentation for those standards, as far as I can tell. I think we need to work together with the "owners" of the MDF standard in order to rectify this.
I've initiated some dialog with some MDF experts that may result in a master document (for MDF standard, at least) that we can use to tweak Solid's template into fuller compliance.
Resolving this one big issue should resolve the following sub-issues too:
http://projects.palaso.org/issues/show/427
http://projects.palaso.org/issues/show/170
http://projects.palaso.org/issues/show/171
Additional sub-issues:
- \pn is not a child of \sn according to MDF_2000.pdf, p. 13, but rather a child of \ps
- further sub-issues can be added to this main bug report as comments.
Having good hierarchical documentation for the MDF standard(s) could also be a great starting point for designing the feature requested in this issue:
"Show marker hierarchy" : http://projects.palaso.org/issues/show/171

Fix #432 Added template mods from JC

The templates are simply solid files themselves stored in C:\Program Files\Solid\templates. So you can create templates of your own by simply creating a solid file (using solid) that you like. If you feel that it is more standard than the one that's shipping then please contribute it and we'll ship it with the product.

Yes, I'm planning on doing this if I do the template fixing. But to do a complete review and fixup requires
- making a data file containing all the markers,
- carefully reading the MDF documentation and sometimes comparing with Toolbox, and
- probably getting input from some MDF experts.
That's why I consider it a significant task and didn't want to just fix one or two things and submit the new template, only to have to keep doing so repeatedly.
Thanks for your willingness to ship the changes as they are contributed. Hopefully one fell swoop will get nearly all of them.

In addition to having one that accurately reflects the MDF Alternate hierarchy, I think it would be important to have one that reflects FLEx's interpretation of the MDF hierarchy, which is different. (Specifically, \ps is a sibling of \ge and \de, not a parent, and there are a few other issues as well.)
I guess my point is that what is shipping may in fact serve that function well, even if an additional one is needed that more closely reflects the official MDF Alternate hierarchy.
